The Nelson Auteur, also known as "Haute" Auteur by his intimates, is a breath of fresh air to a video cottage industry stifled by the production values, professional standards and mega bucks of Big Video.

The Nelson Auteur raises creative thievery to new heights as an uber feature of his oeuvre. Markers of his auteur ways are amply evident in his rapacious pillaging of other's words, phrases, inflections and images. He insists his performances on camera are highly choreographed and tightly scripted, utilizing advanced iMovie 5 edit tools to create  videos for a modern world that have been described by John Will, Calgary art celebrity for hire as "Exquisite miniature costume dramas for shut ins."

Most of the Auteur's videos are extensively researched adaptations and swipes of vocals from the flotsam and jetsam of YouTube. The Nelson Auteur takes pride in his contribution to the 21st century  celebration of unstoppable opinion and contextual distortion.

Many of his themes take up the neglected "grand narratives" of the 21 century, such as blather, nonsense, stupidity, the absurd, colonized word wars and talent in absentia. His celebration of the long winded is a trope evident in much of his more important works.
